8 Days Egypt Tour from Cairo Itinerary

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Cairo

Your private driver will meet you at Cairo Airport and take you to your hotel. Cairo is a lively city where ancient and modern life meet. If you arrive early, you can enjoy a walk by the Nile or visit Khan El Khalili Bazaar, one of the oldest markets in the Middle East.

Day 2: Cairo – Giza Pyramids – Sphinx – Egyptian Museum

After breakfast, your driver takes you to Giza. Explore the three Pyramids, the Sphinx, and the valley temples surrounding them. Continue to the Egyptian Museum, home to royal mummies and thousands of ancient artifacts. In the evening, return to your hotel in Cairo.

Day 3: Cairo – Saqqara – Memphis – Drive to Minya

Travel south along the Nile to Saqqara, where you will see the Step Pyramid of Djoser and other tombs from ancient Egypt. Continue to the ruins of Memphis, Egypt’s first capital. After the visits, drive farther south to Minya, a city on the Nile that makes a good overnight stop on the way to Upper Egypt.

Day 4: Minya – Abydos – Dendera – Luxor

Continue your journey toward Luxor. On the way, visit Abydos, an important religious center with well-preserved reliefs, and Dendera, known for its impressive temple dedicated to Hathor. Arrive in Luxor in the evening and check into your hotel.

Day 5: Luxor – West Bank – Valley of the Kings

Cross the Nile to the West Bank and visit the Valley of the Kings, where pharaohs from the New Kingdom were buried in decorated tombs. Continue to the Temple of Hatshepsut, built against high cliffs, and stop at the Colossi of Memnon. Return to the East Bank of Luxor.

Day 6: Luxor – East Bank – Karnak – Drive back toward Cairo (overnight stop)

Visit Karnak Temple in the morning, one of the largest religious complexes in the world. Walk through its towering columns and courtyards. After lunch, begin the drive back toward Cairo, following the Nile Valley and then the desert road. You will stop for the night in a convenient town on the route, such as Sohag or Asyut, depending on timing.

Day 7: Drive to Cairo – Free Time

Continue the drive back to Cairo. On arrival, enjoy free time to relax, do some last shopping, or revisit a favorite area of the city.

Day 8: Departure from Cairo

At the scheduled time, your driver will take you to Cairo Airport for your departure. This ends your 8-day private driver-only tour, traveling by road between Cairo and Upper Egypt without domestic flights.
